About My Work and This Blog

Thank you for visiting my blog. I hope you will linger for a while, browse, and share some of your thoughts about what you see. I enjoy dialogues with my visitors.

The Work
The images taken from my portfolio begin as a photograph. Long ago, I began to feel the urge to show more than the reality of what I could capture with my camera. I wanted to convey not only what I saw, but something more about what I felt, when I saw it. Thanks to the use of an electronic brush—I begin with the photograph and then paint over that image with light and shadow, color, and texture, until the image more clearly reflects not just what I saw, but how I felt.

My work comes from the collected stories in my heart, not merely what my camera sensor recorded. They are imaginings, as well. They emanate from dreams, half-forgotten memories, impressions, and feelings. I hope that what I have produced will stir memories, dreams, and stories in your heart.

The Blog
This blog is a place for me to meet new friends and share my work. I talk mostly about my art work, but there are also times when I want to talk about some of the behind the scenes stuff.

Currently, my posts fall into one of two categories:

Art News—Announcements of new work, gallery news, etc. These posts include a thumbnail showing the image being discussed along with information about how it was created or how it is currently exhibited. The post will include a link to my portfolio at www.anitajesse.com for a larger version of the image.

Snapshots—Matters that are peripherally connected to my work, but may be more about making connections with other photographers, artists, or collectors, or information regarding tools or equipment used to process the pieces. These pictures may or may not be linked to my photography website at www.framinglightphotography.smugmug.com. When there is a link, I will point it out.

Before you end your visit, please sign up for my monthly newsletter. The subscription form is the third item down in the right hand column. Thank you for your interest in my work.
